Pulling Fence on Weston Pass
4m 42s
Building on the successes of past years’ work projects, RMEF returns to the elk-rich Colorado mountains near Weston Pass. One RMEF volunteer said it best: “If you’re gonna shoot the elk, you need to support the elk.” The work being done here is an ongoing effort to rid the area’s vast public lands of abandoned and problematic fencing. Removing old fencing that’s no longer in service creates a safe and connected use corridor for elk, mule deer, moose and other wildlife. Hunters, anglers, hikers and other outdoor enthusiasts who recreate on these lands benefit by not having to deal with dilapidated fencing as well. By working with our partners to clean up areas like Weston Pass, RMEF creates measurable and lasting impact.
